Biography
Olga Nekrasova is a Russian-born visual artist working with photography, based in France since 2020.
Her practice investigates bodily intelligence and the inner emotional landscape, with a particular focus on the visual expression of emotions and the dialogue between embodied experience and the collective unconscious.
Her artistic approach has been shaped by her personal experience of migrating to France and the isolation imposed by the pandemic. This period prompted the search for an authentic visual language capable of containing intense inner states and engaging them through image, gesture, and metaphor. Olga’s work is rooted in intuition and a heightened sensitivity to subtle bodily and emotional processes.
Through a restrained aesthetic and metaphorical narratives, she develops a practice of introspective conceptual photography and psychorealism. Her research explores inner states as forms of reality, attunement with the world, and continuous transformation.
Olga Nekrasova’s work has been exhibited at festivals and galleries, shortlisted for international competitions, and featured on professional platforms.
Artist statement
For me, photography is a personal language of the unspeakable — a tool that makes the inner world visible and gives shape to intense emotions. My practice can be described as an exercise in openness, grounded in the exploration of bodily intelligence and the human emotional landscape. I approach the body not as a portrait, but as a map: a universal vessel for emotion, where each fragment becomes a metaphor for unconscious processes and inner tensions.
This perspective emerged from my own experience of migration to France and the isolation of the pandemic — moments that compelled me to find an authentic way to contain and transform powerful, often taboo experiences for which words were insufficient.
My artistic language combines conceptual surrealism with poetic minimalism. Despite their outer stillness, my images hold a deliberate tension that reflects the intensity of internal states. Through a purified aesthetic and metaphorical compositions, I create an intimate, safe space where nothing distracts from the essence. Intuitive self-portraiture allows me to blur the boundaries between the inner and the outer, the real and the imagined, inviting the viewer into a dialogue with the self and into a reflection on resonance, attunement, and continuous transformation.
I speak to a viewer who seeks depth, introspection, and honesty in art. The value of my work lies in its ability to act as a mirror — a space for personal reflection and resonance, offering a pause to reconnect with one’s own inner sense of being.
For me, creation is a way to affirm that through attention and feeling, we can move closer to reality. I am interested in the visual sublimation of emotion and in expanding the dialogue between bodily intelligence and the collective unconscious. Within contemporary photography, I see my role in developing a form of introspective conceptual photography — a kind of psychorealism where personal experience becomes a universal statement on the fragility and strength of human existence.
